A boat containing several decomposing bodies was discovered by fishermen in a river in the Brazilian state of Pará, near the city of Bragança. There is still no information about the exact number of bodies and the nationality of the dead.
The boat, which was classified as large by fishermen, was seen in the Mayau Bay area, near the city of Braganca, near the island of Canelas.
When the fishermen managed to get to the ship, they saw several corpses already in the stage of severe decomposition and called the police and port administration.
Teams of Federal Police agents and identification experts, namely Federal Police papiloscopists, have been sent to Para, where work is due to begin this Sunday.
The Public Ministry of the state of Pará has launched two investigations: criminal and civil, to try to clarify the circumstances of the death.
By the evening of Saturday, April 13, neither the exact number of bodies nor the vessel’s flag had been published.
In the evening, firefighters waited for the tide to rise in the branch of the river that gives access to the Atlantic Ocean so that they could tow the ship to the nearest port and remove the bodies.
