An eight-year-old child died after being hit during a scout fair at the cemetery in Lijo, in Barcelos.
According to CM, Four other Scouts, ranging in age from 8 to 21, were injured, two of them seriously: a 13-year-old child and a 21-year-old youth. Another 8-year-old child and a 14-year-old minor suffered minor injuries. Two of the youngest victims were sisters.
The victim and another child were under the vehicle when operators arrived on scene, a fire department source said.
The group was in the churchyard when they were hit by a car. The driver, about 50 years old, was not injured and backed up, intending to shift into first gear, having made the wrong maneuver.
The injured were taken to Braga hospital by Barcelos firefighters.
State Police officers are working at the scene of the incident to determine the cause of the incident.
