The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) held meetings with governments in the eastern provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to optimize payment services provided by local financial institutions to foreigners and other social groups, the PBOC’s official website reported on March 14. April.
In accordance with the decision of the State Council, the financial regulator seeks to strengthen the coordination of various departments and industries to more effectively control the work of banks and optimize payment services.
The official website of the NBK clarifies that local branches of the Central Bank must “strengthen coordination and implement closer cooperation” with the relevant departments, including trade, culture and tourism, as well as transport. During these meetings, it was decided to focus on “use precise measurements and make specific efforts” to improve bank card acceptance, optimize mobile payments and account servicing.
“Our goal is to create a diversified and multilevel system of payment services that meets the needs of all social groups”said a representative of the Central Bank. “We are obliged to ensure the unimpeded interconnection of domestic and foreign payment systems, ensure the right to choose and provide quality services”he added.
Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces are known for their active trade and economic ties with international partners, which requires special attention to payment services for foreign citizens and other social groups. The Central Bank of China highlights the importance of these regions in the country’s strategy to create a favorable business environment and maintain a high level of China’s openness to the outside world. These efforts aim to ensure the efficiency and accessibility of payment services in a globalized economy.
