A frigate belonging to the Russian Pacific Fleet entered the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal, Anadolu Agency reported on April 15.
In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry said Marshal Shaposhnikov docked in the Egyptian port city of Safaga the previous day, where he replenished his supplies.
“The ship’s crew continues to fulfill the assigned tasks within the framework of a long sea voyage”the statement says, adding that the frigate will operate “in accordance with the previously approved fleet combat training plan”while in the Mediterranean Sea.
Recall that last Monday the ministry reported that Marshal Shaposhnikov left the port of Massawa in Eritrea, where he originally arrived on March 29.
In March, the frigate participated in the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2024) in the capital of Qatar.
