Kenya Power announced a reduction in electricity prices in April, Kenyan publication Citizen Digital wrote about on April 15.
The company said in a statement on Monday that the drop was due to the strengthening of the Kenyan shilling and the fall in the cost of fuel used to generate electricity.
“We are pleased to note that the reduction has provided some respite to our customers and we are optimistic that the current macroeconomic situation and improved hydrological conditions, which allow us to supply less thermal energy, will continue to benefit our customers.”said Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO Joseph Siror.
Depending on the tariff used, the reduction ranges between 11 and 13%. A similar drop was observed in February.
