Punto final journalists revealed the official documentation and prices of each luxury item used by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte at official events. This was reported by the newspaper La República on April 14.
Previously, Boluarte reported that the governor of the poorest region of Peru, Ayacucho Wilfredo Oskorima, gave him jewelry and an expensive watch. The first watch that he presented to the president, a Rolex DateJust 36 model made of rose gold alloy, was purchased at Casa Banchero on May 31, 2023, the head of state’s birthday. The receipt, which was given to journalists, indicated that it cost $18,250.
“If I remember that my friend visited me at the Government Palace, I don’t remember the circumstances or the time, but it is officially recorded, like every visit at the Government Palace.”Boluarte told the prosecutor. Although Oskorima himself had planned a visit that day not to the palace, but to the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.
Another item purchased on July 25, 2023 from Homa Banchero was a Bangle bracelet priced at $9,900. That day Oskorima was scheduled to visit the Presidium of the Council of Ministers. Official records indicate that he met with cabinet adviser Fritz Kohne, but prosecutors maintain the theory that he was actually seen with Dina Boluarte.
According to what the president said in her statement before the Prosecutor’s Office on April 5, the governor of Ayacucho told her when giving her a luxury item: “Sister, put on this bracelet, I want you to look good.”. The head of state assures that she responded: “Wilfredo, thank you very much, but I do not agree to accept this.”. However, the regional authorities did not accept the returned item: “Use it as many times as you need, then return it to me and use the Van Cleef bracelet.”.
The president also referred in her statement to prosecutors to two other Rolexes that her friend lent her. According to information published by the Sunday newspaper, the other two Rolexes were purchased in the JomaShop virtual store, which is based in Brooklyn. This is a store where the most expensive Rolex costs almost a million dollars.
On September 7, 2023, Wilfredo Oskorima purchased a Rolex Oyster Perpetuale Date at this store for $26,215. This is the same product whose warranty card was found in Dina Boluarte’s house during the raid. Although the invoice was issued in the name of the regional authorities, it was sent in the name of his nephew, Fritz Hinostroz Oskorima, who, according to his migratory movements between September 12 and 14 of last year, was in the United States. Joined. Boluarte wore the watch for the first time a few days later, on September 18, at an official event.
The rest of the watches were bought some time later in the same store. It was November 8th. Oskorima paid $20,217 for the 18-carat Daydate President Rodium, which the president had displayed at her public appearances since February 16 of that year.
In the prosecutor’s office, the president said that she returned these luxurious accessories to her “waiki” (brother in Quechua). “As these watches are automatic, they create problems because the time and date stop, and it was a problem for me to align them at a public event.”. According to her, at the end of February, during one of Oskorim’s visits, he returned this watch to her, along with three other watches and a bracelet.
