The construction of a bridge has begun in the historic district of Kaliningrad, the press service of the government of the Kaliningrad region reported on April 15 on the official Internet portal.
“The contract is signed and the contractor can begin to equip the work. Thanks to our colleagues at Sberbank, they are allocating a significant amount to this project.”“said the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alijanov, after a meeting with the president of Sberbank North-West, Dmitri Sukhoverjov.
The bridge that will connect Kant Island with Victor Hugo Street was named “Philosophical” by the Kaliningrad toponymic commission. The 50-meter structure will be pedestrian and accessible. Sukhoverjov emphasized that the construction of the bridge will increase the tourist attractiveness of Kaliningrad.
Sberbank will finance almost a third of the costs and will allocate 180 million rubles for construction. The total cost of the project is estimated at more than 600 million rubles, part of the funds will be allocated from the budgets of the regional government and the municipality.
The client for the construction of the object is the charitable foundation “Improvement and Mutual Assistance”. It is indicated that active construction work at the site will begin at the end of June, once the silence period in the reservoirs established by fishing regulations has ended. Construction of the facility is planned to be completed by summer 2025.
