The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is ready to point out those responsible for the attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant if there is irrefutable evidence, said the head of the organization, Rafael Grossi, on April 15 in a briefing after a meeting of the UN Security Council.
“We do not speculate”Grossi added.
Recall that on April 15, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, the permanent representative of Russia, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the IAEA should identify the source of the attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. He stressed that this is not a political issue, but rather the nuclear safety of the plant and Europe as a whole.
The indecision of the IAEA leadership only encourages kyiv to continue committing very dangerous actions, Nebenzya emphasized.
For his part, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, stated that the danger of a major nuclear incident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant remains very real.
It should be noted that from April 7 to 9, the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant was attacked by Ukrainian drones. Impacts were recorded on the dome of the station’s sixth power unit, in the dining area and also in the loading port area. The plant’s press service noted that the NPP system did not suffer critical damage.
On April 13, IAEA experts stationed at the plant recorded 16 artillery explosions in half an hour, some of which occurred at a fairly close distance from the nuclear power plant.
On the same day, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, supported the decision to “cold shutdown” the six reactor units of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to ensure their safety.
