
House arrest as a preventive measure was imposed on blogger and founder of the Club 500 business club, Dmitry Portnyagin, by Moscow’s Tverskoy Court, RBC reports on April 15.
The court sentenced Portnyagin to house arrest until June 10.
According to the investigation, the blogger spoke in support of Ukraine and Alexei Navalny (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of the Russian Federation), the publication notes. When requesting a preventive measure, investigators indicated that Portnyagin and his relatives had a residence permit in the United Arab Emirates.
Portnyagin, in turn, said that he loves Russia and went to the zone of special military operations. According to him, she did not plan to leave Russia, although he had such an opportunity.
The blogger’s lawyers claimed that he donated more than 45 million rubles. “for the needs of soldiers”participating in a Russian special operation in Ukraine. They asked to release Portnyagin on bail in any amount.
Recall that on April 14, Portnyagin was charged with large-scale tax evasion (part 2 of article 198 of the Criminal Code) and legalization of funds obtained by criminal means (clause “b” of part 4 of article 174.1 of the Criminal Code) . According to the investigation, the blogger did not pay taxes from 2018 to 2020. As a result, her tax debt amounted to more than 124 million rubles. and additional sanctions and fines in the amount of 64 million rubles.
