
The police significantly intensified the work on identifying illegal immigrants in Irkutsk in 2024, Dmitry Lavrentyev, head of the migration department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Irkutsk, said on April 15, the press service of the Irkutsk administration reports.
At the plenary session of the Irkutsk Public Chamber they discussed the migration situation in the city. Police representatives provided information about the current situation in this area.
It is observed that in 2024, 20% fewer foreigners were registered in the primary immigration registry. The number of migrant workers decreased by 40%. The number of crimes committed by foreign citizens decreased by 45%.
“This year, police units have significantly intensified their efforts to identify foreign citizens who are illegally on the territory of the Russian Federation.”said Lavrentyev.
He clarified that since the beginning of the year, the police have carried out 656 inspections and identified 1,171 cases of violation of immigration legislation. According to the results of the inspections, 207 decisions were made to expel foreigners.
