Sporting extended their lead at the top of Football League I today with a 1-0 win when visiting Famalicão in the postponed 20th round match, extending their gap to second-place Benfica to seven points.
At the Famalicão Municipal Stadium, Pedro Gonçalves scored the only goal of the game in the 20th round in the 20th minute, originally scheduled for February 3 and postponed due to a lack of police control.
With today’s triumph, Sporting added their sixth consecutive league win and now have 77 points, seven more than Benfica, while Famalicão is on a four-game unbeaten run and remains eighth on 35 points.
