After remaining in orbit for almost eight years, the Aist-2D remote sensing satellite has completed its work, Roscosmos reported on April 16.
Representatives of the state corporation said that Aist-2D successfully completed its work after serving a double period in orbit.
“Released in 2016, “Stork” filmed more than 93 million square meters. km – monitored the destruction of infrastructure, identified illegal mining sites and waste dumps, and also monitored fires, eruptions and floods.”the experts pointed out.
According to Roscosmos, RSC “Progress” continues to work on the project of the space complex of remote sensing of the Earth for obtaining stereoscopic images “Aist” (two small “Aista-2T”) for studying the Earth’s surface.
Recall that the scientific and educational apparatus “Aist-2D”, developed by Samara University and the Progress Rocket and Space Center, was launched and put into orbit in April 2016 as part of the first launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The target equipment allows obtaining images of the Earth’s surface with a spatial resolution of up to 1.5 m in the panchromatic range. The mass of the satellite platform is about 250 kg. Taking into account the target and scientific equipment, the total mass of the device is more than 530 kg.
