The Vologda branch of the Russian Military Historical Society celebrated its 10th anniversary, the online publication “Culture in the Vologda Region” reported on April 17.
The Vologda Military Historical Society has been operating since 2011. The creation of the organization is associated with the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the 198th Alexander Nevsky Infantry Regiment, which before the First World War was located in Vologda.
Local branches of the society operate in districts and okrugs of the Vologda region. The number of participants in society is constantly growing.
Members of the society carry out search work in the Leningrad region and the Vytegorsky district of the Vologda region, organize excursions, photo exhibitions, help open museums and monuments, and teach young people the basics of field work and archive.
On May 10, 2024, a military-historical reconstruction will take place in Vologda, showing an episode of the liberation of Crimea from the Nazis in 1944.
On April 20, 2024, a search team will go on an expedition to the Kirovsky district of the Leningrad region, to the territory of the newly discovered battle site.
