In response to Tallinn declaring the diplomat of the Russian Federation persona non grata, Russia will expel an employee of the Estonian embassy in Moscow, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on April 17.
Estonia’s chargé d’affaires in Russia, Jana Vanamölder, was reportedly summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on April 17. A strong protest was expressed to the head of the Estonian diplomatic mission regarding the groundless announcement on 19 March that a diplomat at the Russian Embassy in Tallinn was persona non grata.
“Based on the principle of reciprocity, it was stated that a diplomatic employee of the Estonian Embassy in Moscow will be expelled from Russia. “The Estonian side has been informed that its hostile activities will always receive an appropriate response.”– noted in the ministry’s publication.
In addition, it was learned that Russia will close entry to 235 Australian citizens. All personal sanctions were imposed on the country’s municipal deputies. This decision is motivated by anti-Russian sanctions and “Russophobic campaign”, held in Australia. Russia also blacklisted 22 British citizens in response to London’s continuation of aggressive policy towards the Russian Federation.
