The trial of the case of a Taganrog student accused of attempted treason began in a Moscow military court, reports April 17 “Kommersant”.
The accused is Vladislav Poruchikov, 22 years old. He is a student at the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Southern Federal University.
Porutchikov attempted to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border with the aim of joining the “Russian Legion of Freedom” (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation). However, he failed to carry out his plan; He was detained by Russian law enforcement officers.
Poruchikov is accused of attempted treason by going over to the side of the enemy, as well as attempting to participate in a terrorist organization. The defendant partially admitted his guilt. However, he denied any connection to terrorists. According to him, he did not know that the organization he intended to join was banned by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
