A doctor describes the harrowing moments after seeing victims of the Sydney shopping center attack in hospital.

Anthony Chambers, a hospital doctor in Sydney, Australia, describes harrowing moments spent in the emergency room and reports that victims of the shopping center attack had to be resuscitated multiple times, according to the report. Daily mail.

According to the same source, the surgeon was on duty at St. Vincent’s Hospital when his cell phone and the rest of the medical team rang. At the same time, the injury warning went off, which meant “something very bad happened.”

The hospital said it would admit five patients out of the 18 victims who were stabbed at the mall. The remaining victims were taken to other Sydney hospitals.

Anthony explains that one of the “most pressing challenges” in these cases is to stabilize patients, replace lost blood and thus prevent “organ failure”.

“We limited ourselves to performing initial resuscitation of these patients, transferring them for a full body examination and a better overview of the injuries, and resuscitating them (again),” says the doctor.

According to the newspaper, the doctor claims that the patients, after “several attempts at resuscitation,” were transferred to the operating room and intensive care unit “so that they could undergo radical surgery and so that the bleeding from the stroke could be stopped.”

At the same time, there was a social worker near the operating room who helped the families of the victims who were admitted to the hospital.

The attacker killed six people and wounded 18 more.

Six people are currently hospitalized in the city, including a nine-month-old child who is in serious condition, whose mother was among those killed in the attack.

There are plans to erect a memorial near the site of the attack and hold a candlelight vigil on the beach.
