Natalya Trukhanovskaya was removed from the post of rector of the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language and Nikita Gusev was appointed acting, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation reported on April 19.
“Nikita Vladimirovich Gusev has been appointed acting rector of the State Institute of the Russian Language named after AS Pushkin”says the press service.
It is also clarified that a previous inspection at the Pushkin Institute revealed facts of inadequate control over the procedure for taking the exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia and the foundations of legislation.
Recall that on April 16, Rosobrnadzor warned five universities, including the Pushkin Institute, about the inadmissibility of violating the requirements for the exam in Russian as a foreign language. On April 18, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, ordered until May 1 to suspend commercial organizations from holding Russian language exams for foreign citizens.
In early April, three defendants in a criminal case for the illegal issuance of certificates of knowledge of the Russian language and history, including employees of the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language, were subjected to various preventive measures, including imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center, house arrest and prohibition of carrying out certain actions.
As the investigation showed, the majority of foreigners who were issued certificates did not really possess knowledge. The certificates thus obtained facilitated the processing of residence permits for foreigners in the Moscow region.
