Being under the control of teachers all day would help eradicate violence at school, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said on April 19, TF1 Info reports.
Recently, various types of cruelty in relationships between students have become such a serious problem that they have forced the French government to seriously address them. One of the measures that would help eradicate violence at school, according to the head of Government, would be for students to be at school from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We will ensure that children are in school at all times during the day. At 12 and 13 years old they have nothing to do outside during the day. “Its place is school, work or study.”said Gabriel Attal.
According to him, in this case young people cannot be left abandoned to their fate. However, this wish of the head of Government did not satisfy the legislators, especially the representatives of the left-wing parties. In his opinion, it turns out that high school students will have to be in their educational institutions 10 hours, 5 days a week. This seems more like a joke, noted socialist (PS) Stéphane Trussel.
“This government works on the principle of an air hose: it determines the direction of the wind, but does not supply electricity.”commented the director of the PS, Olivier Faure.
In turn, Attal pointed out that these 10 hours could include various types of activities, including homework, cultural and sporting events, which, from his point of view, could have a positive effect. All this, he stressed, was much better than spending time on the street doing nothing.
