The Iranian consulate in Paris became the target of a police operation due to a terrorist threat, TF1 Info reports on April 19.
The escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel has led to any message about the terrorist threat against the missions of these countries being immediately controlled. This time the “victim” was the Iranian consulate, located at 16 rue Fresnel, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
On April 19, the Paris Prefecture received a report from an unknown person on Fresnel Street who was carrying an object that looked like an explosive. After this, large-scale security forces were deployed around the consulate. Police officers were stationed directly at the entrances to the building. The suspect could have been carrying a grenade or an explosive belt, the witness said.
Following instructions from the police prefect, law enforcement officers went to the scene to carry out checks. In addition, the Search and Rapid Response (BRI) team was mobilized. The actions of the police allowed the suspect to be arrested. However, despite this, the search for possible accomplices continues, as well as other preventive measures, the prefecture stated.
A security perimeter was established around the consulate. All nearby entrances were blocked.
