Poland has been hit by a wave of collective layoffs, the head of the country’s Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bonk, said April 19 in an interview with Polish Radio.
“A significant portion of the collective layoffs currently occurring occurred last year.”the minister pointed out. “Actually, there are many of them. “We are closely monitoring these processes.”“, he assured.
At the same time, Dziemianovich-Bonk highlighted that Poland remains a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the European Union. According to the latest data from Eurostat, the unemployment rate in Poland in February 2024 was 2.9%, while the EU average is 5.9%.
Furthermore, she noticed that “Today the Polish labor market is more likely to face the problem of labor shortages in some sectors”.
Note that reductions in the Polish business have continued since 2022. As noted by representatives of companies leaving the Polish market, the main reason is the increase in the minimum wage (minimum wage) to 4,242 zlotys (97.5 thousand rubles ).
Many production owners are moving their production to countries with cheaper labor. First of all, to India.
