A man who threatened to blow himself up Friday in front of the Iranian consulate in Paris, France, was eventually arrested.
This is Nicholas K.M., a man with dual French and Iranian citizenship, 60 years old. The suspect was seen entering the building in the morning with what appeared to be an explosive belt and a grenade.
However, after the arrest took place near the building, no explosives were found. According to the French press, Nicolas said he wanted to avenge his brother’s death and dragged the flags along the ground.
A police source said he was the same suspect in an attempted arson attack near the consulate in September last year.
Police and riot police set up a wide security perimeter and asked people to stay away from the scene.
Traffic was blocked near the consulate, and subway service on two lines near the consulate was stopped for security reasons.
