The Spanish Civil Guard announced this Friday that it has dismantled a network that supplied high-speed boats to organized drug trafficking groups from the Galicia region. One of the networks that used these vessels was the network headed by Sergio Anaya, who was arrested by the judicial police last Monday in Costa de Caparica, Almada.
This investigation has been ongoing since 2022 and has established links to the north of Portugal. Since 2018, Spanish law has criminalized the ownership of high-speed boats. Therefore, criminal networks in the neighboring country turned to Portugal, where factories producing these vessels have already been marked.
Thus, the six people detained in Operation Vodka, none of them Portuguese, are involved in this process of manufacturing and selling “flying boats”. Several ships and their engines were confiscated.
Remember that each speed boat can reach an average speed of 120 km/h in the water.
