Sodiam, an Angolan public diamond trading company, received about $17 million (15.9 million euros) this Friday at a rough diamond auction, the company said.
A press release from Sodiam indicated that 20 special stones from the Lulo, Somiluan, Chitotolo, Wari and Caishepa mining companies were auctioned this Friday.
The total net value obtained from the auction was approximately $17 million, with the sale of all stones totaling 636.28 carats, with Sociedade Mineira do Lulo collecting the largest amount ($10.5 million), followed by Sociedade Mineira do Kaixepa. ($3.6 million), Sociedade Mineira do Somiluana ($1.4 million), Sociedade Mineira do Chitotolo ($778 thousand) and Sociedade Mineira do Uari ($614 thousand).
