This Saturday, the House of Representatives approved text that gives TikTok an ultimatum to ban the app in the US unless it cuts ties with ByteDance and China more broadly.
North American officials accuse the video platform, whose parent company is ByteDance, of allowing Beijing to spy on and manipulate its 170 million US users. The ban must now be approved by the Senate.
The House of Representatives is also discussing aid programs for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
Parliamentarians have already begun voting on the mammoth $95 billion (almost 90 billion euros) package that US President Joe Biden has been demanding for months.
If all the measures pass, they will be quickly reviewed by the Senate, which could begin reviewing the texts as early as Tuesday, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said.

Banning TikTok in the US would “violate the free speech” of 170 million people, the social network said today, targeted by proposed legislation that could see it banned in the country.
In an email sent to AFP, a spokesperson for the platform, controlled by Chinese group ByteDance, adds that the proposed ban law “would destroy 7 million companies and shut down a platform that contributes $24 billion a year to the North American economy.”
