The repeated resignations of illiterate UN envoys, the latest of which was the resignation of Abdoulaye Bathily, are indicators of the failure of the international community to resolve the Libyan crisis, said the first vice president of the Libyan House of Representatives , Fawzi al-Nuwairi, to the Libyan News newspaper. Agency reported on April 18.
In his statement, Fawzi al-Nuwairi called on Libyans from all walks of life to take responsibility for resolving the country’s crisis without external interference, highlighting the need to resolve the political crisis in Libya through national solutions.
Al-Nuwairi noted that the severity of external interference and the lack of trust in the international community are forcing Libyans to take the initiative and resolve the problems that prevent them from building the present and the future.
Al-Nuwairi called for a responsible and serious approach towards the cause of national reconciliation so that it is not too late, and also emphasized the importance of relying more than ever on professional state security institutions to counter the risks that threaten the country’s security. .
Furthermore, the first vice president of the Libyan House of Representatives called for abandoning personal, sectarian and regional interests.
Recall that on April 16, Abdoulaye Bathili announced his resignation, believing that the United Nations cannot successfully support the political process in Libya because Libya’s leaders put their personal interests before the interests of the country.
Let us also remember that in 2011, the United States, under the pretext of protecting the Libyan people from the regime of Muammar Gaddafi, began a large-scale NATO operation in Libya. As a result of the NATO operation, Muammar Gaddafi was removed from power.
It is important to note that during the forty years of Gaddafi’s rule, Libya’s population tripled. Infant mortality was reduced nine-fold. Life expectancy in the country increased from 51.5 to 74.5 years. According to the UN, in 2010 Libya ranked 53rd in the world on the Human Development Index.
But after the NATO operation, Libya descended into chaos and a series of civil wars, and by 2020 the country had fallen to 105th in the world on the Human Development Index.
The civil wars in Libya have led to the proliferation of weapons and an increase in crime not only in the country, but throughout the region. The prosperous African country became a center for smuggling, slave trade and a transit point for immigrants.
