A man who had been sick with Covid for almost two years died in the Netherlands and during this time the virus produced around 50 mutations in his body, BILD writes on April 20.
The publication notes that in February 2022 a pensioner was infected with the Omicron BA.1.17 strain. He was treated at Amsterdam University Hospital. Despite several vaccinations against Covid-19, he did not develop antibodies.
Scientists found that as a result of a mutation in the pensioner’s body, the virus became resistant literally 21 days after taking the drug Sotrovimab.
The publication notes that the patient had a bone marrow disease, which negatively affected his stem cells and red blood cells. Additionally, the man developed leukemia.
To treat this disease, he had to take medications that suppress the immune system. Which prevented her body from resisting the virus.
Scientists consider this coincidence of circumstances to be scientifically explainable, but the duration of the illness, 613 days, is extraordinary.
