Joint efforts of the BRICS countries in the field of information security can guarantee them digital sovereignty, said Igor Ashmanov, president of the Kribrum company, TASS reports on April 21.
“Global surveillance by the West is also a security violation, there are no restrictions on it. “They do it because they can.”Ashmanov noted. According to him, the United States adopted special laws to monitor foreign citizens, although it is impossible to monitor inside the United States.
According to the expert, a joint technological effort would be a good option to counteract US capabilities to spy on people. “There are countries that cannot afford this technologically. India, China and Russia have a lot to contribute to this package. “With the help of BRICS, we can think about creating turnkey digital sovereignty for participating countries.”says Igor Ashmanov.
Let us note that on April 15, the United States House of Representatives approved the law (Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act, RISAA), which extends the Internet surveillance program for non-US citizens for two years.
