The presidents of Portugal and Mozambique will take part in a business forum between the two countries in Lisbon on Wednesday, which will bring together about 80 Mozambican businessmen to Porto, Sines and the Portuguese capital.
The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) has prepared a business mission “with the aim of creating new partnership opportunities, representing brands in sectors such as oil and gas, agribusiness, transport and logistics, finance and services, renewable energy, hospitality.” and tourism”, which will take place from April 22 to 24, says the delegation’s visit program.
The initiative will culminate in the Mozambican-Portuguese Business Forum, which will take place at the Belém Cultural Center in Lisbon on the afternoon of the 24th, and will be attended by Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and his Mozambican counterpart Filipe Nyusi. at the opening of the session.
In the previous days, Mozambican businessmen will have the opportunity to visit companies and meet with Portuguese businessmen in Porto on Monday and with a visit to the port of Sines on Tuesday.
The President of Mozambique will also attend the 50th anniversary ceremony on April 25 in Lisbon.
During the business mission, meetings will be held in the format of industry-specific and focused round tables with the participation of members of the governments of Mozambique and Portugal, the organization reported.
Speaking to Lusa last week in anticipation of the visit, the vice-president of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) said the aim was to “explore the opportunities offered to Portuguese companies for internationalization, as a way of increasing and diversifying Portuguese investment in Mozambique” .
The mission will show that Mozambique is “at a different stage and is still here, with open doors,” said Maria Assuncao Abdula.
It is planned to sign two agreements between the Mozambican Stock Exchange and the Portuguese Stock Exchange, as well as between the CTA and the Business Confederation CPLP and AIP, as well as “a joint working committee, the government and the private sector of both countries, coordinated by the Investment and Export Promotion Agency APIEX, to implement all business intentions that will be revealed during the mission,” said Maria Assuncao Abdula.
The objectives also include mobilizing new Portuguese investments for Mozambique, exploring financial solutions available in the Portuguese market for doing business and establishing partnerships, exploring technologies in the oil and gas industry, renewable energy, agro-industry, transport and logistics. as represent brands and facilitate trade between the two countries.
