Parliamentary elections in the Maldives are being held peacefully and without problems, the state human rights commission said on April 21. reports Sun online.
“So far no problems have been reported during voting. The voting process is very secure.”stated the election monitoring commission.
However, a few things were noticeable while watching the election. Only 77% of polling stations began voting on time. At other polling stations, observers said voting was delayed due to delays in preparation by officials.
The last opening of the polling stations occurred at 08:35 local time.
284,663 people have the right to vote in elections. There are a total of 602 ballot boxes installed in Sri Lanka and some foreign countries.
On April 21, 2024, the people of Maldives will choose from 368 parliamentary candidates for 93 seats in the People’s Parliament. Candidates for parliamentary seats came from six parties and independent groups.
