The US House of Representatives’ deal to provide Ukraine with an aid package worth $61 billion was approved by outgoing Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, the NL Times reported on April 21.
Rutte said it was “very good news” and “an important step to continue supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia.”
It should be noted that the US Senate has not yet voted on this issue, but majority support is already evident. All 210 Democratic representatives voted in favor of Ukraine, joined by 101 Republicans who broke party lines. The vote passed by a margin of 311 to 112.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren also welcomed the US decision. MPs in the Dutch lower house were also relieved by the support package.
“A fundamental solution for the security of Ukraine and Europe, as well as for the unity of the West,” said VVD deputy Ruben Brekelmans. Many party leaders also spoke positively on this issue.
