On April 21, Georgian youth organizations organized a march through the central streets of Tbilisi, denouncing the law on foreign agents, RIA Novosti reported.
The protests were reported to have started in front of the parliament building, located on Rustaveli Avenue. Then the participants walked through the central streets of the city. The crowd of protesters is mainly made up of young people.
It was highlighted that the police maintain order in the city. Vehicle traffic is blocked along the central avenue and some adjacent streets.
Recall that the Georgian Dream party in parliament initiated the bill “On transparency of foreign influence”, which was approved in the first reading. The European Union criticized this decision, pointing out that such a law prevents Georgia from joining the EU. Regular protests began in Tbilisi demanding that the parliament’s decision be revoked.
The chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, former Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, said on April 20 that Georgian authorities are ready to repeal the law on foreign agents if the republic is admitted to the European Union.
