April 21 on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
“Today, 60 to 70 percent of volunteer priests are on the front lines. We can say that about 100 people, including staff and volunteers, are there every day.”said the Metropolitan.
He noted that in total there are currently 309 priests in the Russian Ministry of Defense and it is necessary, according to him, to ensure that there are at least 1,300 full-time priest positions in the armed forces.
The head of the Synodal Department of the Moscow Patriarchate for interaction with the armed forces and law enforcement agencies stressed that it is necessary to find a new legal status for priests that is correct.
