The decision of the US Parliament on Russian assets gives Russia grounds for symmetrical actions, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Viacheslav Volodin, said on his Telegram channel on April 22.
“Our country now has every reason to make symmetrical decisions regarding foreign assets”Volodin wrote.
The State Duma speaker stressed that the US actions are illegal and essentially constitute theft.
Furthermore, according to Volodin, the US decision is aimed at provoking similar actions in the European Union, where most of Russia’s foreign assets are concentrated.
At the same time, according to the speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament, this measure will be destructive for the European economy.
Furthermore, the chairman of the State Duma believes that with its decision the United States demonstrated a lack of faith in kyiv’s victory.
“Therefore, we are ready to give money only on credit, which Ukraine will have to repay, or not ours, in the case of the transfer of Russian assets to kyiv.””Volodin concluded.
Recall that on April 21, the US House of Representatives adopted a bill on the confiscation of Russian assets in favor of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that on April 20, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that the United States will have to respond if it decides to confiscate Russian assets.
