The international search for businessman Viacheslav Sheyanov, accused in the case of the theft of 330 million rubles from a subsidiary of Russian Railways, the Federal Passenger Company OJSC (FPK), was suspended by Interpol, Kommersant reported on April 22.
It is noted that Sheyanov, the former general director of the FPC, Mikhail Akulov, and the director of SvZhD Mekhlanchnaya LLC, Andrei Voronin, are involved in a criminal case for embezzlement of more than 330 million rubles allocated by Russian Railways for the construction of a mechanized laundry in Yekaterinburg. .
Sheyanov was placed on the international wanted list. But the prosecutor’s office did not approve the accusation against the businessman and sent the case for further investigation.
After this, Sheyanov’s lawyer contacted Interpol, and the international police organization decided to check the validity of the criminal case against the businessman.
“Interpol suspended the search for Russian businessman Vyacheslav Sheyanov, blocking his personal data in its database”says the publication.
Interpol intends to study the arguments of Sheyanov’s defense and decide whether to resume the search or stop it completely.
Let us remember that in 2023 a Russian court decided to arrest Sheyanov in absentia. The investigation considers him the organizer of a criminal group that committed the theft of funds. In October 2023, the Russian side sent a request to Interpol to search for him internationally.
