MAI today begins negotiations with PSP and GNR structures

This Monday, the Minister of the Interior begins negotiations with the PSP and GNR structures on “increasing and strengthening the security forces”, without specifying whether the government will assign an additional mission for the police.

The four social-professional associations of the GNR and the six trade unions of the PSP, which will meet with Margarida Blasco, are demanding the assignment of a mission supplement identical to that of the Judicial Police, but in a note published this week, the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) simply states that “these meetings will be the beginning of creating a basis for mutual understanding and reconciliation between the parties involved to respect and honor the security forces.”

In the same note, MAI also states that the purpose of the meeting is to “define and approve the methodology and protocol for hearings and negotiations” and to present “assumptions regarding the scope and subject matter of discussions and negotiations between the parties.”

The official MAI source contacted by Lusa sent more information about the negotiation process and the increase in the mission allowance after the meeting this Monday. “We are working on the meeting together with the Ministry of Finance,” the source said.

The representative of the platform bringing together the trade unions and associations PSP and GNR, Bruno Pereira, told Lusa that this was the first negotiation meeting with the guardianship authority and that he respected the commitments made by the current Prime Minister.

The President of the National Police Union said that at the last meeting the minister suggested that the assignment of mission allowances to police officers “is a priority issue” for the government, therefore not understanding Margarida Blasco’s “shyness” in not assuming that the negotiations are related to this issue.

Moreover, according to Bruno Pereira, the main requirement and “only question” of the police is the assignment of an addition to the mission.

Association of Professional Police Officers (ASPP) President Paulo Santos also told Lusa that “the police are waiting for the Minister of Internal Administration to fulfill what Luis Montenegro has promised,” believing that this additional mission is the only subject of negotiations. .

“I want to believe that we will discuss the mission allowance. Police expect the government to determine today how it will distribute the mission allowance and when,” he said, claiming that he is “personally concerned about the lack of this reference from the government and what is so vague is a decent salary and increase salary without any reference to mission allowance.”

The first meeting will be held today at 4:30 pm with the Association of Professional Security Guards (APG/GNR), the National Association of Sergeants of the Guard (ANSG), the Independent Professional Partnership Association of the Guard (ASPIG), the National Autonomous Association of the Guard (ANAG) and the National Association of Officers of the Guard (ANOG) .

A meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. with the Professional Police Union, the Independent Police Union, the Police Union, the National Union of Professional Leaders, the National Police Union and the National Police Union.
