Interior Minister Margarida Blasco guaranteed on Tuesday that the government’s “priority” is to promote dignified career advancement, as well as professional and paid development of the security forces.
The Minister, speaking in Portalegre at a ceremony to hand over the honorary pledge of the 53rd GNR Security Guard Training Course, consisting of 306 security guards, stressed that the Government is “well aware” of the needs and investments in the sector.

On Monday, Margarida Blasco announced that on May 2 she will present a proposal for a subsidy to PSP and GNR members, which she believes will satisfy the police.
“In this protocol that we discussed on Tuesday, the priority was to discuss risk subsidies, which is a horizontal issue that the unions consider a priority and that we, the government, will take into account,” said Margarida Blasco. journalists based on the results of meetings with social and professional associations of the PNP and trade unions of the PSP.
The Minister clarified that she does not yet know whether it will be a risk subsidy or a mission allowance, and then a formula applicable to PSP and GNR will be found.
Margarida Blasco refused to say what amount and how the subsidy would be provided, citing a proposal that would be presented on May 2.
“We are working very hard to present this proposal to the unions with all the conditions and, as we understand, to the satisfaction of all police professionals,” he said.
The Minister said that a multidisciplinary team has been created between the Ministries of Finance and Internal Administration, which is working together.
This was the new minister’s second meeting with the PSP and GNR structures, with the proposed negotiation protocol and related issues to be discussed presented at Monday’s meeting.
The Minister of the Interior also stated that the project for the new training and territorial command center of the GNR, which will be built in Portalegre, is “just awaiting” approval by the Court of Auditors with an investment of one million euros.
