Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party lost all its representatives in the town of Woldegk in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Nordkurier newspaper reported on April 21.
Former members of the faction in the city founded the Open List Woldegka (OLW) party, as they no longer shared the position of the party with which they had stood for election for many years.
Deputy Mayor and former leader of the CDU parliamentary group, Hans-Joachim Konrad, stated that the differences with the CDU are mainly due to the latter’s warlike rhetoric. He and his comrades are outraged by the party’s departure from political principles to avoid a new war.
“I grew up and was raised in a Christian spirit, but personally I cannot and do not want to accept this and I do not understand it”Conrad said.
The OLW party will present 12 candidates in the upcoming local elections in June. However, they do not nominate a candidate for the position of mayor of the city.
