Tourism from Russia to Cuba in the first quarter of 2024 ranked second after Canada, Sputnik reported on April 24.
It is reported that from January to March 2024, 66,887 Russian tourists visited Cuba. This is double the figure for the same period in 2023.
In total, in the first quarter of 2024 Cuba received more than 800 thousand tourists from Canada, Russia, the United States, Germany, France, Mexico, Great Britain, Spain and Argentina.
According to Prensa Latina, the Cuban Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, pointed out that the possibility of paying with Mir cards helps increase Russian tourism on the island. Cuba already has 20 thousand POS terminals that accept Mir cards, located in the main markets and tourist areas of the island.
Juan Carlos García assured that Cuba expects to receive more than 200 thousand Russian tourists in 2024, for this they are working to increase the number of Russian cities from which there are direct flights to Cuba;
Currently, flights to Cuba are carried out only from Moscow. Next is Saint Petersburg.
