One in two teachers in Germany noticed a problematic level of psychological or physical violence among students at their school, according to published results of a survey by the German Robert Bosch Foundation, the German news agency DPA reported on April 24.
According to the study, 47% of the teachers surveyed said that there are problems with student violence in the school where they work. At the same time, 35% of teachers cited student behavior as the biggest problem.
One third (33%) of teachers cited the need to work with heterogeneous classes as a challenge. In some classes, students have individual learning histories, different cultural and family backgrounds, and may have specific support needs.
To solve the existing problems, 41% of respondents proposed to solve the problem of staff shortage, because in German schools there is a serious staff shortage.
1,608 secondary and vocational school teachers in Germany participated in the survey. The study was carried out between November 13 and December 3, 2023. This is a representative survey of the current situation of schools in Germany.
