Brooke Baldwin, a former CNN anchor, revealed details of being “manipulated” and “bullied” by men she had as co-workers months before leaving the station after 13 years on the job, according to Fox News.
According to the same source, problems began to arise when he was transferred from Atlanta to New York, but the executive producer remained.
“My producer made me feel like I couldn’t do important interviews without him. Or maybe I let him make me feel like I couldn’t do important interviews without him,” he says.
So, everything changed for Baldwin in 2015 when Donald Trump won the election. “Everything changed for me that day in 2015 when Donald Trump walked down the escalator,” he says.
In the following years, he noticed that he began to fall out of the news, and the way news was reported also changed.
In 2019, he tried to talk to former CNN President Jeff Zucker about removing his producer from the team, as happened with another colleague, but his request was rejected. A few weeks later, Baldwin was called back into the office and told that the former president had threatened her.
“I could give your program to someone in Washington tomorrow, but I won’t… because I think you’re the best anchor on this network,” he says.
According to Fox News, Brooke was later taken off the air for two months during the 2020 presidential election, and when she returned to the air, she claimed that Jeff Zucker had cut her time on air in half. In January 2021, she began to be forced to leave without any explanation.
“From that point on, after 13 years at CNN, Jeff never spoke to me again,” he wrote. “Even my former executive producer, who ended up being transferred to another program and then promoted,” he says.
“It took me almost three years to feel the anger, to accept the fear, and to realize that for all my silence, for all my abilities, the person who betrayed me the most was me,” Baldwin says.
