The urgent disciplinary process launched this Wednesday in connection with the incidents in the match Desportivo de Chaves – Estoril Praia in the 30th round of the I Football League will allow the sent-off players to play in the next round.
The regulations stipulate that if there is a decision by the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) – in this case to initiate urgent disciplinary proceedings – the provisional preventive suspension ends, meaning that the players can proceed on their next trip.
With the opening of the disciplinary process, those being prosecuted will be able to see self-defense being proven, meaning that there can be an exclusion of illegality (without guilt and therefore no penalty) or mitigation of guilt.
This Wednesday, the CD FPF opened a disciplinary process regarding incidents in the game between Flavienses and Canarinhos in the 30th round of the I League.
“Initiation of disciplinary proceedings with urgent appointment against the group Desportivo de Chaves – Futebol SAD, Pedro Miguel da Costa Alvaro, Marcelo Enrique Passos Carne, Nuno Miguel Pereira Diogo, Andre das Neves Paquete de Oliveira, Thiago Filipe Alves Araujo, Vasco Cesar Freire de Sibra and António Baptista Nobre by decision of the Professional Section,” reads a statement from the CD FPF.
According to the document, the opening of this process is due to “the factuality contained in the official reports of the games and the participation provided by Estoril Praia Futebol SAD.”
“The process was sent on April 24, 2024 to the Commission of Instructors of the Portuguese League, with the advertisement being excluded until the end of the instructions,” adds the disciplinary body.
In the 30th round of the I League match played on Sunday in Chaves, a pitch invasion during stoppage time led to disrespect and aggression between Flavian fans and Estoril Praia players, with goalkeeper Marcelo Carne and defender Pedro Alvaro being sent off . with a straight red card.
