Legislative initiatives on the care of domestic and stray animals were adopted in the Duma of the Stavropol Territory, the press service of the regional legislative assembly reported on April 25.
The changes give local authorities rights to manage stray animals from June 1, 2024.
This document obliges municipal and urban authorities to capture and transport stray animals to temporary detention centers or return them to their former habitats. It is planned to create these accommodation points in three municipal districts: Blagodarnensky, Georgievsky and Izobilnensky.
In addition, the new laws introduce the administrative responsibility of keeping and walking pets.
These measures aim to address a number of problematic issues, including animal cruelty, animal attacks on people and the return of lost pets to their owners.
