Chukotka has established low fares on local air routes

Chukotka has established low fares on local air routes

The decision to maintain special rates for the transportation of passengers on ChukotAVIA aircraft on local airlines was made by Governor Vladislav Kuznetsov at the last meeting of the regional government, the press service of the office of the governor and the government of the Autonomous Okrug of Chukotka. April 26.

On the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the only means of transport available all year round is air, which allows transporting passengers and cargo.

On the territory of the district, air transport is carried out by ChukotAVIA JSC along 148 routes, connecting all 45 existing settlements of the district with a single network of air routes. All routes are socially significant.

“The issue of accessibility of national passenger transport is one of the main ones in our district. Ticket prices need to be kept low. For this reason, every year we subsidize the difference between the cost of flights and the special rate for our residents from the district budget.”– said Vladislav Kuznetsov.

Let us remember that the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug belongs to the regions of the Far North.

Population: 47,840 people. Population density: 0.07 inhabitants/km².

The territory of the region is 721,481 km² (slightly smaller than Zambia and slightly larger than Myanmar). The Chukotka Autonomous Okrug ranks seventh in terms of territory among all subjects of the Federation and second among autonomous okrugs.

On the territory of the district there are two extreme points of Russia: the eastern point is Ratmanov Island, the eastern continental point is Cape Dezhnev. Chukotka is home to Russia’s northernmost city, Pevek, and its easternmost, Anadyr, as well as its easternmost permanent settlement, Uelen.

The Chukotka Autonomous Okrug borders Yakutia to the northwest, Magadan Region to the southwest, and Kamchatka Territory to the south. To the east it has a maritime border with the United States.
