A pro-Palestinian protest camp located near the chancellery in Berlin was dispersed by police on April 26, Spiegel magazine reports.
“Police banned the camp because participants had repeatedly committed crimes such as sedition and ignored rules to protect green spaces.”says the publication.
It is noted that 150 police officers showed up at the camp in the morning. They asked the protesters to leave the area. Many left voluntarily, but about 30 people shook hands, sat on the grass and refused to leave the field.
Police forcibly evicted the remaining protesters, dismantled tents and blocked off the surrounding area.
Let us remember that on April 8, the demonstration in support of Palestine began, in which protesters set up a tent camp near the chancellery in Berlin. Camp organizers said the purpose of the protest was to draw attention to Germany’s complicity and active promotion of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Let us also remember that since October 2023, after the Hamas attack on Israel, the Israeli army has been carrying out a military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to official data, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has already exceeded 34,000 people and more than 77,000 people were injured.”
