David Sánchez, brother of the President of the Spanish Government, bought a mansion in Elvas, Alentejo, worth 240 thousand euros. How DebateThis Friday, David proceeded to purchase a property built on the site of a medieval castle using two cheques.
First, David Sanchez paid 216 thousand euros, and another 240 thousand euros. The newspaper links the purchase to the fact that the brother of the Spanish government’s president set up his tax residence in Portugal at the end of last year in order to pay less taxes.
The house has 425 square meters and four separate apartments that will be combined. The premises have four hallways, three kitchens, three living rooms, a dining room, a garden, a garage and a spacious attic.
In an interview with the newspaper, the estate agency stated that the property was sold at a price “far below its actual value” as the house needed to be rebuilt from scratch.” If the work had been carried out, estate agents see it would cost half a million euros.
The house is uninhabitable and David Sanchez signed a contract with a local engineering company in March.
Notary documents show that the title deed was officially executed on February 10, 2023.
