A Brazilian architect comes to Lisbon to develop a professional project, but in his luggage he brings with him the desire to find the great love of his life. Upon arrival, the “philosopher taxi driver” immediately warns him: “They don’t look for love. He’s the one who finds us!”
And it will be. Marking Germán Moreira’s feature film debut, “Amo-te Imenso” is a romantic comedy that debuts in theaters as a tribute to Lisbon, a city that welcomed the Brazilian director “with open arms” in 2017.
“As soon as I arrived here, the idea began to germinate,” recalls the creator. CM. “I made a short film based on this plot, and in this version the main characters were already drawn: a mysterious Brazilian woman and a fearless Portuguese woman.”
In the following years, Hermano Moreira developed the script and collected the necessary resources to shoot the film. Among them, he received the support of Paramount Pictures, of which he is so proud. “This is the first Portuguese film backed by a North American producer and distributor, and that gives me satisfaction,” he admits.
“Amo-te Imenso” stars Guilherme Gorski and Filipa Pinto in the leading roles, but the cast also includes the names of Julia Paglia, Sonia Balaco and Miguel Monteiro. All are chosen by actors and “all great actors,” says Hermano Moreira, who hopes audiences will enjoy his first film when he finishes his second. “It’s always difficult to predict the audience’s reaction, but I hope people enjoy the film and that it touches them. I love and respect Portuguese cinema, but I think that there are not enough bright proposals to show to the public,” he concludes.
