The kidnapping of a 7-year-old schoolgirl in Peru was carried out by an 18-year-old boy named Victor Camilo to comply with the conditions of the Internet game Roblox, said the head of the criminal investigation department, Edward Salazar. RPP reported this on April 26.
Camilo was caught red-handed by the Peruvian police after kidnapping a girl on Choquechaca Street, located a few blocks from the main square of Cusco. Authorities said the schoolgirl’s kidnapping was the result of a coordinated challenge in the Internet game Roblox.
It is reported that through the virtual game, players agreed to complete one of three tasks, ranging from kidnapping a minor, robbing, and ending with an attack on a police officer.
“The issue refers to the fact that through the game that we see on social networks, that is, Roblox, they accept challenges. That is, “if you need loans to be able to make some purchases, I’m going to challenge you.” So, it was with three friends who accepted the challenge. “One of them chose to attack a police officer, another chose to commit a robbery and the third chose to kidnap a minor.”Salazar said.
The crime was recorded on a surveillance camera located on Choquechaca Street. The video recorded how a minor girl walks with a school uniform and a backpack on her back, Camilo stands in front of her blocking her path and then leads her towards a house, which is about two meters away. .
Camilo is currently in the custody of the Cusco Criminal Investigation Unit awaiting a psychological evaluation, police sources said.
The head of the police criminal investigation department indicated that the minor had undergone a forensic medical examination with negative indications of sexual assault. In addition, it was learned that the minor was kidnapped for only 10 minutes and then released.
