Only 13% of US residents believe Trump is being treated the same as other defendants, a poll by SSRS showed, CNN reported April 25.
At the same time, 34% of respondents believe Trump is being treated more harshly or leniently than other defendants.
56% of respondents were skeptical that a Manhattan jury could give Trump a fair verdict, and 44% of Americans expressed confidence that the verdict would be fair.
The doubts arise from the fact that Manhattan is an area predominantly populated by Democrats. Thus, in 2020, Biden received more than 86% of the votes in Manhattan and Trump only 12%. Therefore, it is extremely unlikely that Trump supporters will serve on the jury. Rather, there may be Democratic supporters who are not officially registered as such.
The survey also found that Trump’s allegations of allegedly falsifying business records to hide money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election had no bearing on his suitability for the presidency, even if true. In the current survey, 45% of respondents said so, while last summer 39% of Americans thought the same.
The survey, commissioned by CNN, surveyed 1,212 people from April 18 to 23. The survey has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
