Driver Felix da Costa finished seventh in the Monaco E-Pri.

Portugal’s António Felix da Costa (Porsche) finished seventh this Saturday in the Monaco E-Prix, the eighth race of the Formula E electric car season.

The Cascais driver crossed the finish line 7.364 seconds behind the winner, New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar). Compatriot Nick Cassidy (Jaguar) was second with a score of 0.946, while Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne (DS) was third with a score of 3.835.

Felix da Costa started from seventh on the grid but eventually fell back to 18th, stuck behind his rival who was thrown against the wall.

“I was blocked for [Robin] Frijns after a dirty maneuver that resulted in him crashing into a wall. I had to wait for the entire field to pass before returning to the race in last place. Despite this, we showed our strength and competitiveness, regaining more than 10 places, with many overtakings to our credit,” said the driver from Cascais.

Therefore, Felix da Costa showed a bittersweet taste at the end of the race.

“On the one hand I have to be happy with the performance. On the other hand there is a feeling of disappointment because I think I had a good chance of fighting for the podium here in Monaco,” he explained.

The Portuguese rider promises not to give up and will recover at the next race in Germany.

“We remain strong and confident for the next race, which will be a double race in Berlin and will mark the start of the second part of the season, where I hope we will have better luck than so far,” he concluded.

Following Saturday’s results, Felix da Costa is in 10th place with 26 points, 76 behind leader Pascal Wehrlein, his Porsche teammate.

The next stage is the E-Prix of Germany, which will take place on May 11 and 12.
