The Baltic Lighthouse center for specific support services for compatriots has started operating in the Kaliningrad region, the press service of the regional government reported on the official Internet portal on April 27.
The institution was created on the basis of the existing Assistance Center for the Resettlement of Compatriots and began operating on April 26. The Baltic Lighthouse Center was created to provide targeted support to the families of compatriots at all stages of their resettlement in the Russian enclave.
The center’s specialists will help with the procedures and help solve problems related to housing, organization, socialization of children, employment and obtaining the provided support measures. The Minister of Social Policy of the Kaliningrad Region, Angelika Meister, reported that during the 16 years of the resettlement program for compatriots, more than 55 thousand compatriots and their relatives arrived in the region. According to Maister, in recent years the interest of Russian-speaking citizens living abroad in the state resettlement program has increased.
In the Kaliningrad region, a one-time cash payment of 32,000 rubles has been introduced for returnees, as well as compensation for the costs of social adaptation. In addition, returnees have the opportunity to live in the temporary accommodation center Sootchestvennik located in the village of Severny.
